Neoloy was developed to address a basic need in the geosynthetics industry - a strong, stiff and durable polymer. A sustainable material for long term civil engineering applications.

In 1960's, geosynthetics industry was established to solve a very common civil engineering problem - how to stabilize terrains. Back then the strongest polymer available was high density polymer (HDPE). While this polymer was useful in short term erosion control applications, it lacked the minimum standards required for long term applications (see an example minimum technical requirements taken from load support application tender).

Long term engineering projects, specifically load support applications, require a creep resistant material with high elastic stiffness range. Without these properties the engineering structure won't last.

In the last half century the nano fiber technology has evolved. Using this technology, a totally new composites and polymer alloys can be created, which are 200 times stronger than steel. Nano polymeric alloys (NPA) use is becoming widespread in several industries to address unique needs.

Neoloy is a nanoy polymer alloy developed specifically for long term, demanding engineering applications, which require a creep resistant material with high elastic stiffness range. This material was developed and tested for 10 years with world renowned geotechnical experts and researchers.  Its use in geocells has been particularly successful, in access roads, motorways, railways, ports and airports. Neoloy superior qualities have been proven in 1000's of projects worldwide.  It has now become a standard in leading institutes and countries.

What is Neoloy®?

Neoloy is a nano-polymeric alloy (NPA) comprised of polyamide nano-fibers dispersed in a polyethylene matrix.

It provides ductility similar to HDPE with elastic behavior similar to engineering thermoplastics. It was developed specifically for use in high-strength geosynthetics – where creep resistance, long-term strength & stiffness and environmental durability are critical factors. These are key ingredients in creating a sustainable material suitable for geosynthetics used in long term civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

The following engineering standards can be used to evaluate the engineering properties of Neoloy based geosynthetics:

· High Elastic Stiffness (>775 MPa) - ASTM E2254 (DMA)

· Creep Resistance (<3%) - ASTM D6992 (SIM)

· UV Resistance (>400 mins) - ASTM D5885 (HPOIT)

· Tensile Strength (>23 kN/m) - ISO 10319 (Wide Width)

· Dimension Stability (<135 ppm/1C) - ISO 11359-2 (TMA)

Strong. Stiff.

Sustainable.
